Description of internship (duties, hours, population served): *
Policy, Administration and Community Practice (PAC) Concentration Intern Job Description The Arizona Council of Human Service Providers is a membership driven organization that represent the interests of human service agencies by providing legislative and administrative advocacy on a local, state, and national level. We also have the Arizona Foundation for Human Service Providers, which is the educational arm of the Arizona Council. The Foundation provides support, education, and training opportunities to Council members. The intern will assist with the following: -Work with the Policy Analyst, Executive Director, and board committees to create, implement, and evaluate strategy for the upcoming Legislative Session -With Policy Analyst, coordinate informational packets and training sessions to inform organizations and agencies about their rights as nonprofits to participate in elections, the legislative process, and prepare them for legislative advocacy. -With Policy Analyst, design and produce educational packets for distribution to legislators. -With Policy Analyst, complete weekly legislative updates, legislative action alerts, and track legislation. -With Policy Analyst, coordinate annual Day at the Capitol. -Coordinate with other health and human services agencies to support or oppose legislation. -Research voting records of legislators on health and human service related issues. -Create a report card for each legislator based a rating system that measures support for health and human services in Arizona. -Attend legislative hearings with Executive Director and/or Policy Analyst to meet with legislators and observe testimony on bills. -Opportunities for program coordination and administrative experience. -Interns must be available during the day and during the regular work week.

Prerequisites required for intern:
Student needs to live in Arizona and should be in their final year of school. This is a Policy, Administration and Community Practice (PAC) internship. This will not give you direct practice experience.
