Hello all:
The Marion VA Medical Center is currently taking applications for the AY 21-22 for Master’s Level Social Work Interns at the advanced standing or second year level. We have supervisors available in our MHICM (Mental Health Intensive Case Management) program at both our Marion IL campus and our Evansville IN campus. We also have a supervisor in our Advance Care Planning, Palliative Care and Oncology program in Marion who is seeking an intern.
Our typical operational hours for students are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. We do not offer after hours or weekends. Dress code is business casual. Our internships will begin in late August of 2021 and run through early May of 2022 unless another timeframe is required by the university. We have the following expectations of students that are receiving their training through our internship placement:
- Students treat their internship as if it were a professional job: arrive on time, call in sick to supervisor, dress appropriately, complete background check, etc.
- Students are expected to work throughout the entire internship dates to receive the best clinical experience.
- Students will complete a minimum of 20 hours of field placement per week with exceptions of school breaks and unexpected illnesses.
- Students should be willing to accept challenges and work hard to identify areas of development as well as welcome feedback on both a interpersonal and clinical level.
At this time, students interested in an internship at the Marion VA Medical Center need to complete the attached application form and return it as well as a resume to Lisa Estes, prior to close of business on Friday, May 14, 2021; my email address is lisa.estes@va.gov . We will not accept applications beyond that date. We will select candidates for interviews from applicants and then interviews will be scheduled. Notification of the facility’s decision will occur within the week of selection.
