Hello all from the Madison VA Hospital and Clinics- I hope you are all staying safe and anticipating a more normal fall semester- We are feeling hopeful that by then we will be back to seeing our patients (and colleagues) in person but also using technology to better meet the needs of some. We have moved quickly to have all staff vaccinated and are working on our 40,000 patients- that is a main focus for the next couple of months and it appears the vaccine is starting to flow more readily.
We will be offering 8 stipend placements next September-May: one in each of the following at Madison- Mental Health outpatient, Addictions outpatient, Geriatrics outpatient, Hospital inpatient, Medical outpatient, Transplant outpatient, Community Support Program (MH CSP) and a Rockford, Illinois Medical outpatient.
Audrey Conn and Amanda Ngola have reached out to us and shared the student’s modified hour expectations and the opportunity for telework. Please be aware that we will continue to provide care in person and the placements will continue to be 18 hours a week (full and part time) for those students interested in a placement here. We will continue to practice physical distancing and mask wearing as long as the CDC recommends. The attached application spells that out.
Please email the application to any advance standing or 2nd year student interested in applying for one of these stipend positions. If you can, remind them they are to fill in the application electronically, name the document with their full name and return it to me via email Jane.Ludwig@va.gov. The application reminds them of this process also.
We plan to have interviews in late April- all applicants (advance standing and 2nd year) will interview over a 2 day period set aside for this purpose. That way we can turn around the selections quickly for you and the students.
