To Field Placement Coordinators and Field Unit Faculty,

The Madison VA is opening recruitment for the 2019-2020 Masters of Social Work student interns. The process usually starts in March with this email.  Then faculty share this opportunity with their students, students apply directly to us, our staff interview the students that are interested and we select our trainees usually by end of May.

The Madison VA has 14 stipend positions for advanced placement or 2nd year graduate students starting in fall of 2019 and one first year non-stipend placement in the Madison VA CSP program.  The Office of Academic Affiliation provides a stipend of about $5800.00 over the 600-640 hour placement for advanced placement or 2ndyear students.

Please share this information with your students and encourage them to email Jane Ludwig with a completedapplication (attached) and resume if they would like to apply (jane.ludwig@va.gov) ASAP since these stipend opportunities are competitive.

We have one Geriatric stipend block placements for this summer (2019) that we are interested in filling and is a clinical placement.

The placement descriptions for this year are also attached.  One Mental Health placement will be in Rockford, all 14 others (MH, Substance Use Disorder, Acute Care Medical Social Work, Primary Care Medical Social Work, etc.) will be in Madison but at various locations.  Please see attached list and locations.

We have a great group of students this year and we look forward to meeting the applicants for next year.

Jane
